ya_scavengerhunt_webbannerhalloween

Welcome to the awesomesauce book circus that is the YA Scavenger Hunt! For those new to the fun-fest that is YASH, this tri-annual event was first organized by the fabulous Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to bonus material from their favorite authors … and a chance to win some awesome prizes!

So for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the author of several books, including the #1 Amazon best-seller BLOODSPELL; The AQUARATHI Series from Harlequin Teen – WATERFELLOCEANBORN, and SEAMONSTER; as well as THE ALMOST GIRLTHE FALLEN PRINCE, and the Spring 2014 Kids’ Indie Next Pick ALPHA GODDESS from Sky Pony Press.

If you came here looking for my bonus material, a character inspiration post for THE FALLEN PRINCE, you’ll have to keep hunting!

At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the bonus material) will only be online until noon PST on Sunday October 9th!

http://www.dreamstime.com/-image16294099Check out the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there are also a bunch of other fabulous teams (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, ORANGE & PURPLE teams–each with 20 authors)  for a chance to win a whole different set of signed books!

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, OR IF YOU ARE STUCK, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE

Directions: In my post, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden my favorite number in RED somewhere. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on each team, and then add them up.

Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by OCTOBER 9TH, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

ARE YOU GUYS READY?!?!

klmauthorphotoI am super-thrilled to be hosting the lovely Kristen Lippert-Martin and her AMAZING sequel to TABULA RASA, INCOGNITA, which *just released* this week, for this leg of the YA Scavenger Hunt!

About Kristen:

Kristen Lippert-Martin received her MFA from Columbia University. Her debut YA novel, Tabula Rasa (Egmont USA/Lerner Books), was published in September, 2014. It was an IndieNext pick and a finalist for Best Young Adult Novel, given by ITW (International Thriller Writers). The sequel, Incognita, comes out October 1, 2016, from Carolrhoda Lab. She lives with her family in Arlington, VA.

About INCOGNITA:

incognitaIn the wake of an experimental procedure that almost wiped out her memory forever, Angel has a chance for a fresh start. She’s recovered most of her memories, rebuilt her physical strength, and reunited with her boyfriend, Thomas. But her Velocius abilities—capacities for superhuman mental power—linger in her brain and put her life in jeopardy. And just when Angel is starting to feel comfortable with her new life, Thomas is kidnapped. With Thomas’s life and perhaps her own in danger, Angel races to unravel a new layer of the mystery surrounding her past and stay one step ahead of her enemies.

I would like to have the ability to read minds whenever i want and to be able to turn it off if i want to.

I’ve always wanted to be able to read other people’s thoughts most because I’m so curious about everything and everyone.

I would like my superpower to be a telepathic one. Knowing about what’s in a human’s mind is interesting.

I love to be able to generate bubbles from my hand, when I’m inside this bubble it will protect me from elements, acts as a fire bomb and transport me to other time or dimension or move under the sea. That would be great.

I would choose Telekinesis because it includes the following sub-abilities:

Levitation: To lift an object, e.g. raising a pitcher several inches into the air.
Matter Manipulation: Manipulate matter with your mind.
Psionic Speed: To augment the user’s physical speed, e.g. outrunning a speeding vehicle.
Psionic Strength: To augment the user’s physical strength, e.g. punching through a steel wall.
Telekinetic Grip: To grasp an object firmly in place, e.g. keeping the tides from washing a friend away.
Telekinetic Maneuver: To alter an object’s directional course, e.g. changing what number a dice lands on or deflect an opponent attack.
Molecular Manipulation: To manipulate matter and energy at molecular level.
Transmutation: Ability of changing molecules turning anything into most anything else.
Psionic Healing: To heal others with one’s own telekinetic powers.
Telekinetic Surgery: To conduct complex surgery through telekinetic means.
Telekinetic Teleportation: Use telekinesis to teleport themselves or others.
Energy Absorption/Conversion: To absorb and convert energy.
Dimensional Travel: To bend the very fabric of dimensional barriers, allowing travel through wormholes or teleportation-like movement.
Age Shifting: By manipulating the cells through telekinesis, could potentially achieve Immortality.
Telekinetic Regeneration: To regenerate one’s own cells via telekinetic manipulation or gathering telekinetic energy to do so, e.g. using telekinesis to induce molecular/biological manipulation.

I believe if given the choice I would choose to have the ability to read thoughts. I suffer as many do from anxiety. It rules my life on a daily basis and I believe that if I could read another persons thoughts that I would then be able to stop second guessing how others view me or if I have wronged them.

I’d pick the power to of being able to identify truth and lies similar to that of a character in Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. You’d be able to send people who committed a crime to jail so much faster and you’d have an more so easy time at keeping the innocents out of it. And I don’t know I just feel as though it’d make somethings a lot more simpler.
