Haters Go Home

I bet you’re wondering what’s with the title of this post. Well, it’s directed to all the haters out there, one in particular. Yes, I know who you are.

Let me make a few things clear about my blog. I post about things that interest me. I post reviews. I post updates about my book. I will publish any comments, even if someone has something negative to say. The caveat is that the “negative” has to be constructive. If it’s not, then I don’t approve. In my opinion, there’s a big difference between being negative and being hateful. I’ve learned that most other people in the literary world, whether they are authors or bloggers or publishers, feel the same way.

People deal with negative reviews all the time whether they are giving them or receiving them – they are a part of any author’s or reviewer’s life. If I receive a negative review, of course it stings. But I read it, I take in the constructive, and even though it hurts, I’m grateful to the blogger/reviewer for taking the time to write their review. I’m very aware of the fact that not everyone is going to like me or my book. But there are a lot of people who do, and at the end of the day, they are the ones who matter.

Hate is a very powerful ugly thing, and I, in no way, want to endorse or support any part of it. So, to the person who is reading this and feeling so powerful because, oh my goodness, someone has written a post because of you, the truth is this isn’t because of you. It’s in spite of you. You are powerless. You are empty. And you need to find some faith. I have a lot of it, and regardless of religion, I know that what goes around comes around. Remember that Karma is a bitch only if you are.

The last thing I have to say is thank heavens for spam filters! Oh, and IP addresses are traceable — your repetitive pattern of behavior precedes you (people knew it was you then, and they know it’s you now). Isn’t that just AWESOME?

I agree with you entirely, negative, but constructive feedback is expected in every career choice. However, hate should never be a part of life or accepted by anyone.
