Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Wagon-Chase to Kakariko

So for those of you who were completely stuck like I was and had to depend on your gamer 19 year old brother to rescue you because nowhere on the internet, not Gamespot, not IGN, not Gamepro, said how to put the stupid fire out Zoran Prince Ralison the wagon (you know where you’re accompanying Ilia with the sick Zoran prince and the weird old lady who winks at Link way too suggestively all the time) while you’re being chased by thugs and bombed by birds AND trying to manipulate a horse that randomly draws to a halt for no reason!? Yep, that sequence.

So I thought I’d do a quick post with some straight up instructions. Gallop right up to the wagon and when you see the downward-pointing red arrow, lock on with Z and then release your gale boomerang. Repeat if necessary. It will put the fire right out. Then swing your wii-mote away to slice and dice those thugs, or use your bow and arrowLink and Epona. With the birds, may sure to take them out as they drop bombs which DIVERT the horse and wagon into a continuous loop. Keep in mind you have to do this twice – there are two diversion areas. So basically if you’re likeZoran Queen me, you’d pretty much go around in about fifteen circles before saying…wait a gosh-darn minute! Anyway, knock off the birds – same with the wagon, get close to them and when you see the arrow above them, lock on with Z and press B to fire the arrow. It will dispatch them and get you to Kakariko Village where you need to go to meet the Zoran Queen for your underwater gear.

BTW, not sure if anyone had any issues with the actual the game disc for Twilight Princess. I had to return mine because it was super slow and went to a white screen going from screen to screen. Not good. Bought it on Amazon and they were pretty great about the exchange. New game works great.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried this part of the game about, oh, 50 times! I hate to admit that I’m not even exaggerating!! I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me and it was making me hate the game. I kept trying the windgale and getting nowhere. I read your post and it took me two tries and I finally got those stupid birds and their stupid bombs to leave the stupid wagon alone. 🙂

By the way, I know how you feel about the gamer brother. My 21 year old son is my go-to help when I get stuck but he moved out last week-end…just in time to leave me up a creek!

Yay!!! Happy to help! It was so frustrating for me too, when I kept going on that stupid loop. Lol. I really love this game but when I made it to floor 99 of the Cave of Ordeals by the skin of my teeth and got killed by those Darknuts, I gave up. I really should try to beat it – I think I’m pretty close. Maybe one day I will get back into it. Let me know if you have any secrets up your sleeve if you get past that level.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Amalie, Regarding your statement about the white screen between scenes…I had been playing my friend’s copy, and getting this as well. So I went and purchased a brand new copy. And it still does it. You’re referring to the brief fade to white when transitioning from area to area, right? That really isn’t supposed to happen? My friends copy is years old, and I just bought mine today.

Hey Joey, no this was like serious dead white space, with the disk making ominous clicking sounds. 🙂 So far no issues with the new disk. I still haven’t beat the game though. That Cave of Ordeals gets me on the last floor. Ugh.

it does tell how to put out fires in game but it doesn’t say how to take out the birds. Earlier in the game z lock was not working for the slingshot on spiders blocking my climbing path so i thought it wouldn’t work for the bow either. the boomerang always locks on something else other than the birds…I guess i’ll try to get a z-lock on the birds w/ the bow…

Yea, it took a few tries before I got it myself, but you can z-lock with the bow as soon as you see the birds when you you point the remote at them and you’ll see the z-lock red arrow. Then fire.

Hey, you are mistaken, the game (at least mine) told me how to put out fires 😉

You’re right. It did tell me, but I wasn’t Z-locking so ended up getting very frustrated. Managed to work it out eventually. Now I am up against those Darknuts, got booted out in the last cave in the Cave of Ordeals. Can’t seem to beat them at all. Any ideas?

Thanks for your comment at the schollii2 website. We have just finished the Kakariko village respite and have the Zoro armor, we are on our way to the lakebed Temple for the last fused shadow. Note that upon rereading http://faqs.ign.com/articles/750/750306p1.html (there are a couple other versions of it on the web; and I used them a couple times in the past), it does say specifically to use the boomerang for the birds. Oh well. Anyways, glad (and proud 😉 that part is over, and looking forward to the twilight mirror part.

I think I read that and was trying to use the boomerang without the Z lock which made it impossible to put out the fires on the wagon or kill the birds. Z lock is the key with either weapon. You’ll be getting some cool tools/weapons in the next few sections! IGN FAQs/walkthrough is good. I also alternate with http://www.supercheats.com/guides/the-legend-of-zelda-twilight-princess if I get stuck or IGN isn’t clear. Good luck! Cheers.
