Fall 2014 YA Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to the insane book circus that is the YA Scavenger Hunt! For those new to the fun-fest that is YASH, this tri-annual event was first organized by the fabulous Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to bonus material from their favorite authors … and a chance to win some awesome prizes!

So for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the author of several books, including the Amazon best-seller BLOODSPELL; The AQUARATHI Series from Harlequin Teen – WATERFELLOCEANBORN, and SEAMONSTERTHE ALMOST GIRL from Angry Robot Books; and the Spring 2014 Kids’ Indie Next Pick ALPHA GODDESS from Sky Pony Press.

If you came here looking for my bonus material, Nerissa Marin’s (aka the Aquarathi Queen’s) BUCKET LIST from my latest release, OCEANBORN, you’ll have to keep hunting!

At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours — until noon PST on Sunday October 5th!

http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photography-business-men-green-team-word-image23111392Check out the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GREEN TEAM–but there are also REDBLUE, GOLD, ORANGE, & INDIE teams for a chance to win a whole different set of signed books!

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE

Directions: In my post, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden my favorite number in GREEN somewhere. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the blue team, and then add them up.

Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by OCTOBER 5th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

ARE YOU GUYS READY?!?!

jennadolI am super-thrilled to be hosting the lovely and talented JEN NADOL for this leg of the YA Scavenger Hunt!

About Jen: Jen Nadol grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and graduated from American University with a BA in literature. She’s lived in Washington DC, Boston, NYC and now, an old farmhouse north of the city with her husband and three sons. When she’s not writing, she’s probably tending to the farmhouse or the sons, reading, cooking, skiing, or sleeping.

Jen’s featured book on this hunt is called THIS IS HOW IT ENDS. Isn’t that a cool title?! Makes me want to read it already! Are you guys ready to see the cover and read the summary? Drumroll please …

THISISHOWENDS (530x800)Riley and his friends are gearing up for their senior year by spending one last night hanging out in the woods, drinking a few beers, and playing Truth or Dare. But what starts out as a good time turns sinister when they find a mysterious pair of binoculars. Those who dare to look through them see strange visions, which they brush off as hallucinations. Why else would Riley see himself in bed with his best friend’s girlfriend—a girl he’s had a secret crush on for years?

In the weeks that follow, the visions begin to come true…including a gruesome murder. One of Riley’s closest friends is now the prime suspect. But who is the murderer? Have Riley and his friends really seen the future through those mysterious binoculars? And what if they are powerless to change the course of events?

Find out more information about this exciting book by checking out Jen’s website!

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

HUNT OVER. EXCLUSIVE CONTENT REMOVED. For more information on Jen’s books, please be sure to visit Jen’s website or check out her buy links for THIS IS HOW IT ENDS from Simon Pulse.

Whoa. Wasn’t that exciting? Want to learn more? Be sure to click on the links to Jen’s website to find out how you can get your hands on your very own copy of THIS IS HOW IT ENDS. Anyway, just for the record, I own THIRTEEN pairs of binoculars.

Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Jen Nadol and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is hidden somewhere in this post (hint: scroll up a bit – it’s in green and it’s about my weird obsession with binoculars). Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the green team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize! Also keep in mind that most of the authors are doing their own giveaways so there are many chances to win cool stuff.

While you’re here with me, be sure to enter the personal contest I’m hosting below for signed set of my Aquarathi Series, WATERFELL and OCEANBORN (including necklace, charm, tattoo, and wristband) OR your choice of any two of my books. In addition, TWENTY runner up winners will win an e-copy of my Aquarathi prequel novella, SEAMONSTER. Contest is international.

I want to do a genealogical trip to Norway, Ireland, Austria and Scotland to trace my family lines. I think I’d start with my mum’s paternal line and go to Norway to see where my great grandparents grew up. I’d like to end at Ellis Island and find the names of all my great grandparents as they entered the US. That’s definitely on my bucket list!
