Fall 2016 YA Scavenger Hunt
Welcome to the awesomesauce book circus that is the YA Scavenger Hunt! For those new to the fun-fest that is YASH, this tri-annual event was first organized by the fabulous Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to bonus material from their favorite authors … and a chance to win some awesome prizes!
So for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the author of several books, including the #1 Amazon best-seller BLOODSPELL; The AQUARATHI Series from Harlequin Teen – WATERFELL, OCEANBORN, and SEAMONSTER; as well as THE ALMOST GIRL, THE FALLEN PRINCE, and the Spring 2014 Kids’ Indie Next Pick ALPHA GODDESS from Sky Pony Press.
If you came here looking for my bonus material, a character inspiration post for THE FALLEN PRINCE, you’ll have to keep hunting!
At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the bonus material) will only be online until noon PST on Sunday October 9th!
Check out the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there are also a bunch of other fabulous teams (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, ORANGE & PURPLE teams–each with 20 authors) for a chance to win a whole different set of signed books!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, OR IF YOU ARE STUCK, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.
SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE
Directions: In my post, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden my favorite number in RED somewhere. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on each team, and then add them up.
Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by OCTOBER 9TH, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.
ARE YOU GUYS READY?!?!
I am super-thrilled to be hosting the lovely Kristen Lippert-Martin and her AMAZING sequel to TABULA RASA, INCOGNITA, which *just released* this week, for this leg of the YA Scavenger Hunt!
About Kristen:
Kristen Lippert-Martin received her MFA from Columbia University. Her debut YA novel, Tabula Rasa (Egmont USA/Lerner Books), was published in September, 2014. It was an IndieNext pick and a finalist for Best Young Adult Novel, given by ITW (International Thriller Writers). The sequel, Incognita, comes out October 1, 2016, from Carolrhoda Lab. She lives with her family in Arlington, VA.
In the wake of an experimental procedure that almost wiped out her memory forever, Angel has a chance for a fresh start. She’s recovered most of her memories, rebuilt her physical strength, and reunited with her boyfriend, Thomas. But her Velocius abilities—capacities for superhuman mental power—linger in her brain and put her life in jeopardy. And just when Angel is starting to feel comfortable with her new life, Thomas is kidnapped. With Thomas’s life and perhaps her own in danger, Angel races to unravel a new layer of the mystery surrounding her past and stay one step ahead of her enemies.
Find out more information about this exciting book by checking out Kristen’s website!
That COVER, amirite? It makes me want to do THIRTEEN cartwheels!
Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Kristen Lippert-Martin and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is hidden somewhere in this post (hint: scroll up two lines – it’s in red and it starts with THIR and ends with TEEN). Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the red team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!
While you’re here with me, be sure to enter the personal contest I’m hosting below for a chance to win two books of your choice and free signed books. Contest in international!
FIRST PRIZE: YOUR CHOICE OF ANY TWO BOOKS FROM BOOK DEPOSITORY (up to $30 value).
RUNNER UP PRIZES: ONE OF THREE SIGNED PAPERBACK SETS OF THE CRUENTUS CURSE SERIES WITH ANTIQUE TRIQUETRA CHARM, A BOOKISH NECKLACE, AND SWAG (International). THREE RUNNER UP WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN (each winner will get two signed books plus charm, necklace, and swag)!

October 8, 2016 at 5:47 am (8 years ago)I’ve always wanted a superpower where I could bring fictional characters to life out of books! Because power team, anyone? I’d be bringing Katniss (The Hunger Games), Four (Divergent), Ren (Tiger’s Curse), Amon (Reawakened), Puck and Ash (Iron Fey) and so many more to life to fight baddies!

October 8, 2016 at 2:11 am (8 years ago)I think for my superpower I would choose to be able to teleport! That would be so cool to be able to go anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye! I want to travel so many places and this would get rid of the whole airport fiasco!

October 7, 2016 at 6:38 pm (8 years ago)The ability to fly. It doesn’t hurt if a pair of angel wings could be included.(; I’ve always been fascinated with the sky and with such a power I’d be able to reach new heights.

October 7, 2016 at 12:48 am (8 years ago)You are born into a world where you are granted the choice of one superpower, which you will have for the rest of your life.
What would it be and why?
If I had a superpower, I would want the ability to comfort people. There is so much heartache in the world and I wish I could have the ability to help people overcome their hardships and realize that one of the purposes for us to be in this world is to have joy. I want to help people believe in themselves and have this joy. My reason for this is because I’ve dealt with depression and bullying during my life and I’ve come to find happiness. I want others to experience this just like I have.

October 6, 2016 at 6:40 pm (8 years ago)Telekinesis for sure!

October 6, 2016 at 2:41 pm (8 years ago)No matter how many times I think about having a superpower, I can never decide and always fall back on flying…
Emma A
October 6, 2016 at 2:25 pm (8 years ago)I would want to read minds. I have never been the most socially aware since I was an only child with no cousins, so I would love to be able to know what others are feeling/thinking.
Sandi Turla (@frujeelicious)
October 6, 2016 at 2:03 pm (8 years ago)Mind control! But I promise to only use my powers for good, unlike Kilgrave from “Jessica Jones.” 😉
Jess
October 6, 2016 at 12:08 pm (8 years ago)I would have teleportation I could sleep for an extra hour before having to leave the house to get to school, plus I could go instantly to any place in the world – go to a different country every weekend, back in time for sunday lunch.

October 6, 2016 at 12:06 pm (8 years ago)My superpower would be persuasion, it could be for good or evil…
Zaide Cullen
October 6, 2016 at 11:16 am (8 years ago)Superpowers! Always a fun subject! I would love the ability to create illusions or holograms that you can engage with (something like the holodeck from Star Trek). There are a ton of superpowers I could choose that could help masses, like healing or the ability to bring peace but I just think that we will never be able to completely solve all the worlds problems and powers like that inevitably land you in a life or death you-against-the-world situation and I would definitely not make a good YA heroine (I’m far too lazy and nowhere near patient enough!) so instead I’d like a power that could bring joy to people. This way people could visit places they could never afford to, or do things they never dreamed they could – or we could even bring our favourite novels to life!

October 6, 2016 at 9:33 am (8 years ago)I would love to be able to fly! Must be an amazing feeling.
Cheyenne Le May
October 6, 2016 at 9:07 am (8 years ago)I’d choose to have the ability to be able to understand and talk to all living creatures because as an animal biologist i’d then make accurate discoveries to help us save the organisms now under threat from extinction.
Julia
October 6, 2016 at 7:28 am (8 years ago)I would love to have the ability to freeze and restart time! I do so much in my days, it would be nice to be able to give myself more time! My only problem would be my strange aging… But I can look past that for a few minutes of sleep!
Zairah Divino
October 6, 2016 at 4:12 am (8 years ago)I’d like the ability to fly. Not just levitate, but legit flying. I want to see the world, and to feel the wind against my face, and to lose myself in nothing but space. 🙂
Gurlay
October 6, 2016 at 2:22 am (8 years ago)if i were to have a superpower I would want to be able to be in different places at the same time. Like if I don’t feel so well, I can just rest at home and I can send another version of my self to go to work.
Gabrielle
October 6, 2016 at 12:06 am (8 years ago)I would pick flight! It’s been a dream of mine ever since I was tiny and watched Peter Pan for the first time.

Angela
October 5, 2016 at 7:19 pm (8 years ago)Picking a special power is tough. I would want to be invisible I think. I’m not great in crowds but if I could be invisible I would be more comfortable observing everything.
Sara
October 5, 2016 at 5:07 pm (8 years ago)If I was granted one super power for the rest of my life it would be the ability to wield all of the elements. I feel like you get the bang for your buck because not only is it one single super power, but you get to control four different elements.
