Welcome to the summer 2012 YA Scavenger Hunt!
Hello and welcome, everyone! For you first timers, the YA Scavenger Hunt is an online blog hop sponsored by authors who write books for both Young Adults and the Young at Heart. Each of us hosts a different fabulous author on the tour, so if you came here looking for my bonus material, a deleted scene from BLOODSPELL, you’ll have to keep hunting!
At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!
Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are TWO contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there is also a blue team for a chance to win a whole different set of amazing signed books!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt homepage.
Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve included my favorite number somewhere in this post (hint: it will be in RED!) Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the red team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator).
Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
SCAVENGER HUNT GUEST
Tracy’s latest book is called TEMPEST UNLEASHED. Check it out below!
Isn’t this cover gorgeous!? Just looking at it makes me want to be a mermaid! In case you’d like to know what the book is all about, here is the description:
~ END OF HUNT ~ Exclusive content removed. Please click the links below for more info on Tracy.
HOLY MOLY, readers! Are you guys shaking after reading that? I sure am!! Just in case you want to check out the first two books in the trilogy before having to wait until 2013 (sigh!) for the rest of TEMPEST REVEALED, here are the links once again to check out Tracy’s website for lots more info on the Tempest series, as well as direct links where you can pick up copies of her books!
Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Tracy Deebs, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is hidden somewhere in this post (hint: keep reading). Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the red team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize! Also keep in mind that most of the authors are doing their own giveaways so there are many chances to win something unique and special.
Thank you so much for visiting my website! While you’re here with me, be sure to enter the personal contest I’m hosting below, at the bottom of this post. Up for grabs are 7 prizes–three autographed copies of BLOODSPELL, two custom-designed BLOODSPELL necklaces, and two sterling silver triquetra charms.

Good luck and have fun!

August 3, 2012 at 12:44 am (12 years ago)I love YA because it has a bit of everythIng. It has love and action, drama, it’s futuristic , it’s dystopian and it’s full of hope.

August 3, 2012 at 12:33 am (12 years ago)Would love to see more female characters in YA books that don’t fall in love with guys simply because they’re hot. They should be inspiring, strong, rational Buffy-esque women!

August 3, 2012 at 12:25 am (12 years ago)I love YA novels because they are really faced paced, and contain a lot of decent romance.

August 2, 2012 at 11:32 pm (12 years ago)Thanks for the giveaway! i love YA because no matter what genre, you can almost always relate to the main character and grow a connection with them and when you finish the book you know you will be back to read it again 😀

August 2, 2012 at 10:17 pm (12 years ago)First of all, thanks so much for the giveaway!
As for what I’d like to see in YA books, I just want more good books coming out(: They don’t have to be original, although that would be nice – I just want good quality books(:

August 2, 2012 at 9:58 pm (12 years ago)I guess a lit of times I just like the innocence of YA. And the first love aspect is always so much more intense when your young! I would like to see more one on one love, rather then love triangles. Thanks for the giveaway!

August 2, 2012 at 9:53 pm (12 years ago)What’s there not to love about YA? YA has everything (genre) you can possibly imagine. The emotions, problems, relationships all seem more extreme but real. Overall YA has something to offer for everyone.

August 2, 2012 at 8:32 pm (12 years ago)I would like some more teen books that aren’t all about her love life as well as her conflict. Not all girls need a guy in their life to achieve things or make things happen. I’d like it if there were more that were just about the heroine and her friends or family, without all the relationship drama : )

August 2, 2012 at 6:38 pm (12 years ago)I love YA because they move faster and are more interesting than most novels written for adults. And authors are able to take more chances, blend more genres, and all in all have a good time. I think some of the best books being written today are being written for a teen audience.
Tammy @ Into the Mystic
August 2, 2012 at 6:19 pm (12 years ago)I love YA because I think the stories are so well-plotted. Often, adult books use sex to move the plot along, but YA stories have to work around so many restrictions that they end up being better written.
thanks for the giveaway!

August 2, 2012 at 4:21 pm (12 years ago)I would love to see more original plots, and less of the love at first sight, and all the stories where the girl is bored or boring, and then the boy comes, and life changes, and falls in love yada yada, and so on. But I do love the way most YA books hook you in really well, I am older, but still enjoy them. As long as its paranormal, I will like it usually.
Thanks for the giveaway, and the hunt. (name is Michelle L. Lynn, just fyi)

August 2, 2012 at 3:56 pm (12 years ago)talrejwan has it right. I love a good romance, but I love strong, tragic characters who can’t or won’t fall in love. I’m not saying that a story should be pumped so full of action that it’s dripping performance enhancers, but it would be great to have a female heroine who stands on her own. Kind of like Batman with boobs. <_< Batman can't love anyone. And everyone loves Batman.

August 2, 2012 at 2:39 pm (12 years ago)I love all the action as well as the supernatural aspects of YA books. Many YA books are really intense which I love.

August 2, 2012 at 2:38 pm (12 years ago)I love the adventure, romance, paranormalcy, or magic, heros/heroines of YA books!

August 2, 2012 at 2:04 pm (12 years ago)Amalie, I love YA b/c of books like yours!
But u already know that so I’ll be more specific. I like the incredible fantastic journey a good book can take you on. It’s amazing especially when the characters are close to u in age or younger b/c you can see ur self in their situations and wonder how will u react.

August 2, 2012 at 1:14 pm (12 years ago)i love ya because it turns the impossible into possible 🙂

August 2, 2012 at 1:14 pm (12 years ago)Id really like to see more independent female leads. I feel there is always a boy thats leading them to “greatness” I want to see the girl lead the boy!

August 2, 2012 at 11:58 am (12 years ago)I love YA because I can relate to the main character most of the time.. I love the twist and the romance in it even if the romance is just a tiny part of the book..:)

August 2, 2012 at 11:47 am (12 years ago)I love YA books because you can make any world with it. I can easily get lost in the fictional universe and it just makes me forget everything. Right now, I’m not doing so well, so YA books help me forget my problems and just drag me into a mystical land where dreams come true. It is also really fascinating to see the characters change through out the story. With YA books, my imagination goes wild. Also, I really love romance. Romance is a real big genre in YA fiction. I love seeing cute, fluffy scenes between characters but also I like seeing those bad times. Those times remind me that the world isn’t perfect – not even in fiction. In the YA fiction world, I would like to see more… conflicts… Maybe between friends, lovers, family, enemies… I think some YA authors are now getting… um… Dull…? I don’t know if that’s the right word to say it, but a lot of books I read can use a little bit more action.. Maybe I’m getting older… xD , thanks for the awesome giveaway!!

August 2, 2012 at 11:30 am (12 years ago)Witty, unpredictable books with strong characters that also have weaknesses. 😀

August 2, 2012 at 11:21 am (12 years ago)I love YA because its the most crucial part of a person’s life. Even though I passed that stage of my life a lil while back I still love reading about characters experiences that have the chance to truely form their lives. Plus I write YA, so it has a special place in my heart 🙂

August 2, 2012 at 11:04 am (12 years ago)I love YA books because they make me forget about everything around me and discover new worlds. I like the magic of those books and all the different genres that we find inside YA. And sometimes when I read about strong characters, it makes me want to do my best too and gives me courage.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway =D

August 2, 2012 at 10:58 am (12 years ago)I love YA cause there is such a range of topics in it anymore. I can get a sweet romance or a dark spooky book or anything anymore.

August 2, 2012 at 10:48 am (12 years ago)Thanks for the giveaway!
And though I love YA books, I would like to see an in-between hero/heroine. Most protagonists of YA books these days are either super stubborn and fierce, or the complete opposite. I’d like to read about someone in between those two. 🙂

August 2, 2012 at 10:13 am (12 years ago)I just love YA. I think it’s the best!

August 2, 2012 at 9:58 am (12 years ago)I’m not a teen anymore, but I’m reading mostly YA books! I like that they give people hope, and they remind me when I was a teen. I like when a book contains romance but also action and I can’t put the book down!

August 2, 2012 at 6:49 am (12 years ago)Why i like YA book it’s because often they give hope. even with all the difficulties and obstacles the hero triumph
what i would like more? character like katy from the lux serie by jennifer l armentrout: strong loyal young who don’t drink, don’t smoke and study trying to do their best . Often young like those are put apart in the real world when they are not bullied, it’s injust because it’s the kind of child any parents wish for so it would be great for them to have at least in litterature some positive model

August 2, 2012 at 4:44 am (12 years ago)Thank you, so much for being a part of YASH and for offering this amazingly generous giveaway. I have no doubt the neckalce’s and charms are going to be beautiful.
The reason that I love YA fiction so much is, because it’s real and you just get it. You don’t have to work hard for it and it’s not dumbed down – it’s just incredibly realistic stories that hit you where it counts.

August 2, 2012 at 3:53 am (12 years ago)whoops, i said romance twice. haha
