Awesome Independent Bookstore: The Book Stall
While I was on my mini-Chicago book tour promoting Bloodspell last week, I made a few stops at some wonderful book shops. One that really caught my attention was the fabulous Book Stall, located in Chestnut Court, Winnetka, Illinois.
The Bookstall has hosted events for Young Adult writers like J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins, and Laurie Halse Anderson. Color me giddily fan-girling impressed! WOW. On top of that, there is a terrific selection of great reads dedicated to their teen readers as well as a full adult selection. This lovely book shop also hosts a nicely-stocked children’s reading area in the front of the store.
I was also lucky to meet the charming and knowledgeable owner, Roberta Rubin, as well as the very personable Robert McDonald who specializes in the Children’s Department and coordinates most of the author events. Both were wonderful and easy to talk to – always a must for me when chatting about books, events and reviews in any bookstore.
As an independent bookstore, I’d rate The Book Stall a whole-hearted five stars. Great space, great books and great peoples. If you’re in the Chicago area and you’re an indie bookstore lover, it’s a must to visit.
The Book Stall is located at 811 Elm Street, Winnetka, IL 60093. Follow The Book Stall on Twitter and Facebook.
