Spring 2020 YA Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to the fantastic book circus that is the YA Scavenger Hunt! For those new to the fun-fest that is YASH, this bi-annual event was first organized by the fabulous Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to bonus material from their favorite authors … and a chance to win some awesome prizes!

So for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the author of several books, including the #1 bestseller BLOODSPELL and the IPPY award winning BLOODCRAFT in my witch/vampire series; WATERFELLOCEANBORN, and SEAMONSTER in my twist-on-mermaids series; THE ALMOST GIRL and THE FALLEN PRINCE in my parallel universe science fiction series; and the Spring 2014 Kids’ Indie Next Pick ALPHA GODDESS and DARK GODDESS in my Hindu mythology series.

I am also the author of the best-selling THE BEAST OF BESWICK and co-author of the steamy historical romance series: the LORDS OF ESSEX and the TARTANS & TITANS series.

If you came here looking for my bonus material, the TITLE REVEAL and back copy description from the last book in the Aquarathi series (SQUEEEEEE!!!), you’ll have to keep hunting! This hunt, I am a member of the BLUE team!

At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the bonus material) will only be online until noon PST on Sunday April 5th!

ARE YOU GUYS READY?!?!

I am so happy to be hosting MELANIE HOOYENGA, author of FLICKER for this leg of the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Multi-award winning young adult author Melanie Hooyenga first started writing as a teenager and finds she still relates best to that age group. She has lived in Washington DC, Chicago, and Mexico, but has finally settled down in her home state of Michigan. When not at her day job as a Communications Director at a nonprofit, you can find Melanie attempting to wrangle her Miniature Schnauzer Owen and playing every sport imaginable with her husband Jeremy.

About the book:

Biz is a perfectly normal teenager except for one minor detail: she uses sunlight to jump back to yesterday. She takes advantage of flickering by retaking Trig tests, fixing fights with her boyfriend (or reliving the making up), and repeating pretty much anything that could be done better. Trouble is, flickering makes her head explode from the inside. Or feel like it anyway.

No one knows about her freakish ability and she’s content to keep it that way. Guys don’t stick around because she refuses to let them in, but all that changes when Cameron, her best friend, starts looking oh-so-yummy. Suddenly she’s noticing his biceps, his smile, and the cute way his eyes crinkle when he—gah! This is her friend!

But the butterflies come to a screeching halt when little girls start disappearing, then take a nosedive when the police link the kidnappings to Cameron’s sister, who vanished years earlier. As the police grasp for clues, Biz photographs a strange man lurking in the shadows and realizes that her flickering can help more than just herself.

Find out more information about this exciting book by checking out MELANIE HOOYENGA‘s website!

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

And DRUMROLL please … now for MELANIE HOOYENGA’s  exclusive content!

Message from Melanie:

Thank you so much for hosting me on the scavenger hunt! This is my fifth time doing this and it’s fun getting to know so many new authors. For my bonus material, I made a short video where I talk about a few ways my character, Biz, and I are alike and different. I hope you all enjoy it!

Also, Flicker won the Writer’s Digest Self-Published eBook Awards for MG/YA in 2015. Just a fun fact!

WHOA! This makes me want to do THIRTEEN cartwheels!

To read more about MELANIE HOOYENGA and FLICKER, be sure to click on the links!

To enter the contest, you need to know that my favorite number is hidden somewhere in this post (hint: scroll up two lines – it’s in blue and it starts with THIR and ends with TEEN). Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the blue team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

While you’re here with me, be sure to enter the personal contest I’m hosting below for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card for all of you stuck at home during these crazy times. Normally, I always give away signed books, but I am hoping that this GC can be put to use to buy you a little something to make yourself happy. Please stay safe and healthy, my friends!

Contest is international (you must be able to accept an Amazon GC gifted from the US)

I’m watching a few movies on Lifetime, Roku and LMN. Been pouting and praying a lot for the ending of this terrible virus. I miss working and talking to my co-workers, but I mostly miss eating at the restaurants ?

So far, my favorite social distancing activity is painting. I’ve been working on a submission for a contest Michaels is having. Hopefully I’ll get it done soon. 😀
